Google’s music streaming platform
YouTube Music and YouTube Premium, along with its predecessor YouTube Red, have been available for many years and offer paid subscribers unlimited music enjoyment, ad-free platforms and other benefits. A few days ago we also reported on a strong campaign for loyal users: As a thank you for the 2,222-day membership, there is one year of YouTube Premium free of charge. It goes without saying that many jumped on it very quickly and opened the YouTube Music app in anticipation.
However, a Google spokesman has now made it clear that this action does not exist and that the origin cannot be explained. That’s a bit surprising, because actually everything was fine: Google is known for sometimes giving presents to loyal and paying users (e.g. with smart speakers, Stadia packages and the like), the period of 2,222 days is understandable, the display is Google- Like and it is hard to understand why a user would fake this action. If there was a link to this it would be a different matter.
So either the user has too much time and wanted to have fun or the Google spokesman is not informed about the action. With a company like Google, it’s quite possible that the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing. And since the group of eligible users should be very manageable, this is not a big campaign. I also tend towards fake, but I wouldn’t completely rule it out. A tap on YouTube Music and a quick look can’t hurt 🙂
